Mission Statement
Our school Library and Information Centre has a central role in meeting the school’s educational goals. It supports and enriches the learning experiences of every child by catering for both curriculum and recreational needs.
Opening Hours
The library is open 8.30-2.30 Monday to Friday, including lunchtimes after 1pm for students to borrow books, browse and enjoy. All classes have a weekly scheduled time to come to the library for a variety of research, reading and library skills-based exercises.
Staff
Our librarian is Mrs Veronica McLeod and the Teacher with Library Responsibility is Ms Yates. We have a dedicated team of Year 6 library monitors who regularly come to the library to issue and return books for some classes and help out at lunchtimes.
Borrowing
All children must bring a book bag if they wish to borrow books from the school library.
Each class has a designated library time during the week. Pupils can change their books weekly or may have more books during the week, as long as they bring back their issued
book(s).
In our library students are permitted to borrow:
* Years 1 - 1 book
* Years 2 - 6 - 2 books
Books are issued for 2 weeks. If they need them longer they are welcome to bring them in and have them renewed.
We do not fine for over-dues, however we will charge for lost or damaged books.
Students are encouraged to take care and responsibility for their borrowed books, so other children can also benefit from enjoying these. Please ensure your child carries books to and from school in a book bag to protect these. Book bags can be purchased from the school office for $2.00.
Reserves
If you would like to reserve a book which is out, speak to Veronica or one of the library monitors.
