What's Available?

We offer a range of extra-curriculum activities for students. Some of our main events are listed below. Details of other programmes are usually published in our school eNewsletter as they become available.

After School Music Programme

The school hosts tutors from The Music Centre who conduct music lessons after school. A wide range of instrument tuition is available on a ‘user pays’ basis. Details of the programme and vacancies are available from the office.

Education Outside The Classroom
In this school, the value of educational experiences outside the classroom is well recognised. Such experiences are seen as an integral part of the school programme, and may include day activities e.g. class trips and outdoor education experiences or experiences of a longer duration e.g. the Year 6 Camp.

Religious Instruction
Religious instruction is optional and lessons are held each Monday lunchtime in the school hall. The programme outline and tutor are approved by the Board of Trustees. Written parental permission is required in order for students to take part in these sessions. A copy of the permission form can be downloaded here.

Sport
Children are encouraged to play games during intervals and a range of sporting equipment is readily available for such use. A change of clothing is sometimes useful especially during the winter terms.

Winter games include netball, touch rugby, soccer and other large ball games. Summer games include padder tennis, softball and cricket. In summer there is also an athletics meeting which involves schools in our area. For older children, a series of winter sports fixtures with neighbouring schools is a feature. Swimming is an important part of the summer programme. For details of our Senior Interschool Sports fixtures, click here.

Sport Teams
As part of our school programme, teams participate in a varied representative programme with other schools. Whilst most weekend sports teams are organised through sports clubs, our school does have a number of school based teams competing in regular Saturday competitions.

Ukulele Group
The Ukulele group meets on Tuesdays in Room 2 and is open to students in the Senior School. Participants need to provide a clear drop-folder or manilla folder to keep copies of handouts in. Junior students are also offered an opportunity to join a "taster" ukulele group on Thursday lunchtimes during Term 2.

Chess Tuition
The Advanced Chess group runs for 6 sessions in Term 2, with members selected for the Term 3 Interschool Chess competition. An intermediate level of tuition is also available for 6 sessions in Term 3. Experienced students are invited to join the advanced group by selection only. Less experienced players are given an opportunity to participate in trials for intermediate group selection early in Term 3.
