Cross Country
What a great effort from the Cross Country team on Tuesday at Konini School, despite the rain we had some excellent results and the opportunity to get a little bit muddy! We have lots of amazing photos, thank you to the parents who sent them through, in the Cross Country article.
Easter Tuesday
Don't forget that school is closed on Tuesday 6th April. I think you might be interested to know that the rule to close schools on Easter Tuesday was first introduced in 1954 and is part of the Education Act legislation. Therefore it's a school holiday not a statutory holiday. It usually goes unnoticed as the Easter holidays fall in the two week school holiday, unless like this year Easter is early.
Alert Level 3 Learning Survey
Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey. I have 124 responses, which is great. I will analyse and share the findings after the Easter break.
Drop off and pick up times
Last week a primary school student was run over outside of a school in East Auckland and later died in hospital. I contacted the principal on Monday to offer words of condolences and support. He talked about how challenging and incredibly sad this event has been for everyone involved.
From these events it seems appropriate to remind everyone about safety during drop off and pick up time.
Please remember that the 'Drop Off Zone' is not a car park. It is supposed to be a quick drop off or pick up and then drive away.
Please do not block the driveway or entrance to the school between 8.30am - 9am and 2.45pm - 3.15pm. These are busy times when we have lots of children arriving or departing.
Please do not drive into school between 8.30am - 9am and 2.45pm - 3.15pm unless there are special circumstances.
There are lots of other options for parking if you need to leave your car. Atkinson Rd, the Church car park opposite the school, South Titirangi Rd in the public car parks behind the village shops, the library, or behind Lopdell House.
Thank you for all your support with this. I know there is no easy solution to the congestion we have during drop off and pick up but there are things we can do to make it safer.
