For the final week of Term 1, I'd like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff, students and parents for such a positive start to the year. It has had its challenges with the two lockdowns but I grateful for the kindness and resilience that everyone has demonstrated during times of sudden change.
The concept of 'Hauora|Well being ' has proved to be a perfect line of investigation to set a positive tone for the year, and the hard work and dedication of the teaching team, along with our amazing support staff, has been outstanding.
On Friday, we will close the Term in our usual way with an 'Achievers' Assembly. I'd like to say well done to all those children who represented TPS on Tuesday in the Interschool Swimming. It has been a very active term with many different experiences for our children with Interschool Cross Country, Waterwise, learning experiences outside of the classroom with visits to Te Uru, Mt Atkinson, Tiritiri Matangi and so much more.
I am delighted with all the different experiences that are on offer at the moment especially at lunchtime with Anton training up sports leaders, Mr Chatfield taking activities for our senior students, Blake Semp and Warren coaching girl and boys soccer teams, the Enviro Team are hard at work with projects around the school and Kasha Klee has been taking choir in preparation for Anzac Day.
Next term, we have more initiatives underway with Lego Club starting up at lunchtime, the whole school joining together for a singing assembly and the APPA Choir will start rehearsals for the performance at the town hall scheduled for Thursday 11th November.
Please note that Year 3/4's from Room 4 will transfer to Room 11 and Room 6 to Room 12. The new roof will be reinstated so I know the children and teachers are looking forward to being in their new spaces. We will use Room 4 and 6 for new entrant classes that will open later in the year.
The Year 0 class will open Monday, May 10th, so a warm welcome to Liz Pollard and Amber Adey who are the teachers of Room 24.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break.
We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for learning in Term 2!
