Tiritiri Matangi

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to accompany the Year 5/6 team to Tiritiri Matangi. This is my third visit to the island and I cannot recommend this wildlife sanctuary enough. There are some very exciting conservation projects underway including planting programmes, the introduction of threatened and endangered bird and reptile species such as the tuatara, takahe etc. There are few places in New Zealand where you can readily see and walk amongst so many rare species. The knowledgeable volunteers guided us through the bush and it was an amazing learning experience for the children and adults. With so many questions from our children. It would be a great family day out with some stunning scenery around every corner! And it's only one hour away on a very enjoyable ferry ride from Auckland.

America's Cup PTA Event

What an amazing week it has been for Team New Zealand. So it seems very appropriate to celebrate such an outstanding win with our very own America's Cup in Titirangi Primary school pool. I know there has been much excitement and boat building taking place over the last week or two. A huge thank you to the PTA, they are a very small group of enthusiastic, and creative parents and staff representative (Vicki Moffat) who have put this event together. They are always looking for a helping hand, whether it be 30 minutes turning a sausage or two, designing posters, contacting sponsors...a small contribution can have such a positive impact. I look forward to seeing all the entries tomorrow!

Before and After School reminder

We have noticed a small number of children who are arriving at school early. Children are not allowed to be at school before 8:15 am or after 3:15 pm unless they are enrolled in before and after school care which is provided by sKids, an Out of School Care (OSCAR) organisation. The sKids programme operates in the School Hall from 7am and until 6pm. Find out more.

Parent Feedback

Thank you to everyone who has responded to the Alert Level 3 Learning survey. I have had 60 responses so far, it would be really helpful if I could get some more feedback. This survey is about collecting your perspective of school-led learning at home during the last two COVID-19 Lockdowns. It will really help us with how we are delivering our teaching and learning programmes if we need to return to Alert Level 3. It should only take about 5 minutes.
