NZ Maths Week 2021

It’s great to be able to share the wonders of Maths this week, with New Zealand holding its annual Maths Week.

We have had daily activities alongside the usual awesome Maths that is taught each day at TPS.

Estimating is the challenge this week, starting with how many children attended school on Monday. Congratulations to Room 16 who were only 2 children away.

On Tuesday, classroom’s needed to estimate how many children from Room 22 could fit inside a hula hoop. This surprised even me, with an amazing 15 children inside one hoop. Room 20 was the closest, well done..

Other challenges this week include - making the best 2D shape with 10 iceblock sticks, Mrs Helwes annual gumboot throw and completing the week will be Mr Chatfield’s juggling challenge.

Q: What do you get when you cross a dog and a calculator?

A: A friend you can count on.
