Did your child enjoy Waterwise? bookings are now open for Kids Learn to Sail spring intake! French Bay Yacht Club has five open skiffs, and a fleet of Optimists, in its shed, available for kids to get into and learn to sail in at low cost. Sailing is a sport for life that teaches independence, resourcefulness, and water skills, and children can enjoy the benefits of this wonderful activity right here in Titirangi at French Bay Yacht Club. French Bay’s coaches recommend that sailors start at around 9 or 10 years old, so long as they can swim 50m (with a life jacket). All equipment is provided, and sailing takes place on weekends at high tide. As children develop their skills, they have the option of progressing to racing and different types of boats - like these skiffs and starlings.
