Getting involved in school activities can be a great way to support your child at school. There are a number of ways you can become involved as a parent or caregiver - depending on how much time you have available.
We make great efforts to communicate proactively with parents. Our main method of communication is through the Hero App, followed by our Facebook page and school website. Please download the Hero App and join our Facebook page to stay informed, ensuring you receive the school newsletter, and any urgent alerts. If you aren't sure about something, always feel free to ask.

The school runs a range of events throughout the year for parents and caregivers. This includes:
These are advertised in the school calendar and newsletter.
Generally, the school invites parents in for meetings twice a year for formal meetings about your child's progress. The first time is an opportunity to discuss your child's progress and provide feedback, directly with your teacher. The second is a 'student-led conference' where your child shows you their progress towards their goals. We highly recommend attending these meetings and details are advised in the school newsletter, with an online booking system.
At the beginning of the school year, we also have 'Meet the Teacher' evenings where the teacher meets with all the classroom parents to discuss a whole range of school-related topics and answer any questions.
Most school trips need parent helpers to come along and assist with accompanying children. Your teacher or syndicate leader will let you know when these opportunities come up. Some classroom teachers also appreciate parent offers of help and assistance, especially with Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) for Year 1 students and reading support. Our school librarian is always looking for volunteers in the library.
Titirangi School runs a range of fundraising activities through its School Board. The Board will put out calls through the year for helpers with its events, including the famous Titirangi School Gala, usually held in November. If you have professional skills, want the best for children at the school, and are interested in governance, you may be interested in finding out about joining the School Board. This is a voluntary position, and elections are held every three years.
