Titirangi School is positioned next door to Titirangi Village, in the Waitākere Ranges. This means we are in the unique position of being an urban school in a very precious natural environment that is full of trees and bird life.
Our enviro students work around our school at lunchtime - maintaining our beautiful site and supporting our local environment, developing new initiatives, and projects that ensure the kaitiakitanga of our turangawaewae.
At Titirangi, we encourage tamariki to be active kaitiaki and to connect with our environment by enhancing our school grounds and beautiful bush setting. Participating in planting, growing celebrates our connection to the land.
We have several Kauri on our school grounds and we ensure that we care for these beautiful trees.
While we aren't quite waste free, we do encourage children to bring waste free (and healthy!) lunches to school, and the school operates a rubbish-sorting and recycling system.
Our school was built in the 1930s and has a special charm. All classroom upgrades are completed with the environment in mind meaning they are better insulated and equipped with energy efficient lighting.
