Learning in the wider world
Education outside of the classroom
At Titirangi, we believe in the power of learning both inside and outside of the classroom. We recognise the value of educating our students rather than simply teaching them. Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) provides rich opportunities to deliver this broad education.
A highlight of primary schooling is the opportunity to go to School Camp. This provides learning opportunities for the children in terms of building resilience and relationships with their class. Camp Adair is a popular choice for the school and in previous years Motu Moana.
Depending on the learning concept for the term class trips are an opportunity to experience learning outside the classroom e.g. MoTAT, Arataki Centre, Auckland Zoo are some of the places that children might visit in any given year.
We have regular outings to Te Uru Gallery and the local Titirangi Library.
In Years 5 and 6 learners take part in Waterwise, which is water safety through sailing, at French Bay Yacht Club in Titirangi. Often children will go on to learn more about sailing with the club.
