Thank you to everyone who completed the returning to school survey. It has given us valuable data in determining how we can open the school safely on 17th November.
We have considered the numbers who want to return whilst reviewing the health and safety requirements to further reopen the school, it is clear that we need to ‘stagger’ the attendance of our students. This assessment is consistent with the directions provided to schools by the Minister of Education.
Therefore we will stagger the return of students alphabetically by surname.
· Students with surnames starting with A to L would attend one day,
· Students with surnames starting with M to Z would attend the next.
This approach would:
Ensure that all siblings attend school on the same day
Parents and caregivers will know the dates their child(ren) will be able to physically attend school. These are detailed below.
Create the necessary space in classrooms for social distancing with roughly half of the students attending on any given day.
Allow us to maintain a degree of separation in the playground with designated ‘play spaces’.
Allow students to attend every other day. While not ideal, it provides enough continuity to develop a meaningful programme.
Provide an easy way to provide ‘Distance Learning’ for the students on the days they are not physically attending. Your child’s teacher will provide details on what this will look like.
Require that all our teachers return full-time to their classrooms.

Distance Learning: Many of our families have decided to keep their child(ren) at home, we will continue to offer ‘Distance Learning’ support in the form of
Ministry of Education hard copy learning packs
Access to Google Classroom learning for Y3-6
Google Meets with allocated teaching staff
Please note that all teachers will be returning full-time to their classrooms. Therefore will not be able to run google meets for their class.
Bubble Classes Students who do not have an appropriate (suitable) carer at home and are currently attending ‘Bubble Class’ will continue to attend as they have previously. For the sake of clarity, this means only those students who have formally registered and attended our ‘Bubble School’ by Monday 15th November.
After-school care After-school care cannot operate at this current alert level setting, as it would mean mixing of groups and household bubbles, which would put too many people at risk should someone attending the programme be confirmed with COVID-19. Therefore children can arrive at school no earlier than 8.15 am and will need to be picked up at 2.55 pm.
With this model, we will not need to stagger drop-off and pick-up times but we do ask you to follow the procedures of wearing a mask and not entering the school unless there are special circumstances. It is the same model we have used previously where parents say goodbye at the gate. (New entrant families, the office will be in touch about how this will work for the new children to school).
